Aim:


The NCEF, in association with the Irish Heart Foundation, are delighted to offer this specialist module via e-learning.


This Year 2 specialist course will provide qualified Fitness Professionals with the skills, knowledge and competencies to work with community groups, private companies and workplaces to improve individual’s lifestyles, thereby reducing the risk of diseases, such as heart disease and stroke. Areas of study include stress management, health eating, bone health etc. with a strong emphasis on physical activity throughout the course.


Course Details:


All content, including lectures, handouts, sample assessments, videos, class plans etc. will be delivered and accessed through a specially developed e-learning website specifically designed for the module. This e-learning website will contain automated PowerPoint tutorials on all the theoretical aspects along with short electronic self-assessments which will allow students to gauge their progress as they work through the module.


The Fit for Life specialist module will be assessed as follows:


On-line theory assessment (20 questions - 30 minutes)


Submission of 2 Sessions on Video

Record on video two 30 minute group presentations to a minimum of 6 individuals on any 2 different topics from the list below:

  • Understanding your health
  • Active living
  • Healthy eating
  • Positive weight management
  • Stress management
  • Back care and bone health

These two sessions/videos must also include a physical activity 7-10 minutes in duration.
