All recipients of the National Certificate in Exercise & Fitness: Level 1 (awarded in 2006 and before) are required to recertify their qualification every five years by accumulating 1,000 Continuing Education Credits (CEC’S) for each five year period.

In order to recertify and bring your qualification up to date, you must submit the following to the NCEF Head Office:-

  • Copies of all health and fitness related certificates received since graduating with the NCEF. CEC’s are awarded for health and fitness related qualifications/workshops etc. obtained since graduating from the NCEF/PEAI Level 1 or since last date of recertification.

  • NCEF passport book with 1,000 Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s) for each five year period  - A replacement passport can be purchased for €10.50 (incl. P&P).  An NCEF passport is a little book that was issued to graduates where all courses and workshops undertaken are logged and assigned CEC’s.

  • Copy of your current Occupational First Aid (OFA) certificate (150 CEC’s awarded) It must be Occupational First Aid.  Basic First Aid or AED will not suffice. This fee is waived to current Fitness Professionals Ireland members and they also receive 200 CECS annually towards recertification.  The NCEF National Register of Exercise Professionals (NNR) was re-launched as Fitness Professionals Ireland in 2011.  FPI is a non-profit public register which recognises the qualifications and expertise of NCEF graduates.
