Choosing the UL/NCEF Flexible Learning Pathway will be the best decision for your career in the health/fitness industry:


1.   Accreditation

The Pathway provides an opportunity for aspiring fitness professionals to follow a flexible learning pathway to certificate, higher certificate, diploma and onwards to  degree.

Courses on the pathway are placed at Level 6-8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and Levels 5-7 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

The NCEF is audited and aligned to the European Industry standard, Exercise for Health Specialist (SQF Level 5).

 Graduates on the Certificate Programme are also awarded with the QQI Level 5 award in Occupational First Aid (OFA).


2. Flexibility

 Courses are available nationwide.

Studies can be pursued on a continual basis or on a step in step out option allowing the learner far greater flexibility.  Full time, part-time &  blended learning course options and the NCEF e-Learning Hub allows the learner to study online.


3. Student Support Websites


Students receive access to the specific and unique Learning Support Websites.  These interactive websites support and enhance your learning experience by providing extra tutorials, videos, animations and electronic and printable crosswords and quizzes on all aspects of the course.


4. Funding

 Funding options and  grants may be available depending on course choice and individual circumstances.


5. Security

The NCEF is fully bonded therefore all course fees are fully protected.


6. Tutors

All Tutors hold qualifications in the area of Exercise & Health Fitness or related area. Many of these tutors are teaching and/or conducting research in the areas of Education, Physical Education, Sport & Exercise Science and Recreation Management.


7. Lifelong Learning

NCEF Fitness Professionals can avail of opportunities for lifelong learning and discounted professional insurance with an approved body, through membership of Fitness Professionals Ireland - A Graduate Directory of the NCEF.

There are huge opportunities in the fitness industry for well qualified instructors and this qualification will set you apart from everybody else when your CV lands on your future employer’s desk.

 Further opportunities to progress to NFQ Level 9 & 10 in Exercise & Health Fitness and/or related areas are available within the University of Limerick or educational institutions.
